They offered me a sleeping pill (Ambien), but I was kind of nervous to take it, since I had never taken a sleeping pill before. I found out later, based on the contraction monitor, my contractions during that night were just as strong as my contractions in “active labor” while on Pitocin, so that made me feel like.
The doctor stitched me up while I held my baby girl and I never felt a thing. The damage? A second degree tear.
Induction. With a pregnancy fraught with complications (gestational diabetes and a blood clotting disorder), my OB uttered the dreaded “I” word pretty early.
So, there is my very long-winded, thorough induction story. It can be a scary proposition, but there ARE positive induction stories out there!.
This is definiy disturbing, but how funny would this be for a push present? https://t.co/TJGX476ohq 24 Aug.
And…that epidural started working right away!
The nurse kept asking me if I could feel certain sensations on my legs (wet/cold) and I was feeling everything.
It is well-known that a mom who is able to be up and moving around during labor facilitates her own labor. down, baby got crunched lower and lower into a bad position in your pelvis, resulting in shoulder dystocia and a baby unable to breath on her own because of the known side-effects of Ambien.
I pray mom and baby are doing well now. Thats so horrifying. Reply. Obviously, not all women are educated on natural birth, but those of us who are are SCREAMING it from the roof tops and doing our BEST to help other women realize THEY know what’s best for their baby. I agree that OBs don’t realize how ignorant they make themselves look 99% of the time.
If you have to wake up before that, you may have some memory loss.” Memory loss? Really? Doctors don’t think women would want to remember their children being born into this world??.
Latent phase labor is when the cervix dilates from closed to 3cm. The "books" will l you that it typically takes an average of 8 hours for this to happen. But I've seen both ends of the spectrum here. Contractions during this phase are short (less than 60 seconds) and typically begin with mild pain.
Do you ever recommend a hot shower or bath for women with a lot of prodromal labor as an alternative to the sleeping pills? I've been taught that very warm water can slow labor and of course help with pain.
Delivery by Labor Nurse, CNM at 8:01 PM.
I asked for something to help me sleep and was given Tylenol with Codeine and a 5 mg Ambien. Once I was admitted to the hospital, I stopped progressing. Needless to say I didn't sleep at all. We went back to the hospital around 10 pm on Saturday, only to be sent home again at 3 cm dilated.

At this ultrasound he measured 8.5 lbs, which meant he could be between 7.5 and 9.5 lbs (due to measurement error).
Rather than put them to sleep, both Ambien and its generic twin, zolpidem he was hit by a truck, had taken to clawing at his mattress during the night an upright position and is supposed to help ease muscle contractions.

- Cancelling the therapy the dose should be reduced gradually.
Then the nurse came in and said I could take Ambien (sleeping medication) still, if I wanted to try to rest a little. I decided to take it because if it While I didn't have a significant contraction episode yesterday I did have a ton of pain in my pelvic area that I just couldn't shake. They gave me a muscle relaxer.

Life's A Playdate. Crash It.
Some of you may have noticed a decrease in my presence here and on Facebook. The reason is that over the weekend I managed to lose myself in what I am now calling the purgatory of pregnancy, more commonly known as prodromal labor (best identified by my Playdate Crasher Wing-woman, Krista).
Prodromal Labor is something that you don’t hear or read about very much, and I think that doctors are hesitant to throw it out there because it’s hard to identify whats really going on “down there” unless you check the cervix for dilation and effacement.
